I thought it
would be a good idea here to tell you who I am and where I'm coming
from. I'm probably a little more "seasoned" than the younger
breed of Technical Writers you may have met in the past. But I'm
sure you'll agree that maturity and experience are highly desirable
traits in the fast-paced world of Information Technology.
I
have over 25 years of professional writing experience, beginning
back in the 1970s as an Intelligence Officer with the CIA overseas
and stateside. From that period until my retirement in 1995, I wrote
for high-level audiences in Washington including the White House
and Congress, and later led a staff of writers in one of the most
demanding, high-pressure environments in terms of expected excellence
in personal background and integrity, education, training, research
skills, and writing ability.
But
that world trained me well and has guided me to an excellent opportunity
as a Technical Writer in corporate America. Upon my retirement from
CIA my family and I moved to Atlanta, and for the past 15 years
I have been writing for a variety of company IT departments here
and enjoying every minute of it.
